Speakers:

Matthijs Soede, European Commission
Jonathan Hodges, Wave Energy Scotland
Pablo Ruiz-Minguela, Tecnalia
Henry Jeffrey, University of Edinburgh

The IEA-OES Evaluation and Guidance Framework was designed primarily to help public funders design calls, deliver effective evaluation of proposals and ensure they get suitable data from projects. Conversely, the Framework gives applicants a very clear understanding of the funders’ aspirations and requirements and can build strong communication between funder and technology developer.

In this webinar co-organised by the IEA-OES and ETIP Ocean, applicants will learn about the objectives of the Framework along with its contents and benefits to different stakeholders. The webinar will also illustrate why funders adopt the Framework, how this adoption should guide the content of applications and prospective projects, and the importance of the funder being able to access valuable technical results from those projects. The webinar will also discuss relevant tools and user experiences.

Agenda:

  • Introduction – Lotta Pirttimaa, Ocean Energy Europe
  • Introduction to European Commission calls and the importance of performance metrics – Matthijs Soede, European Commission
  • The IEA-OES Evaluation and Guidance Framework and implications for applicants – Jonathan Hodges, Wave Energy Scotland
  • Perspective on the Framework and relevant tools – Pablo Ruiz-Minguela, Tecnalia
  • Experience of the application of Framework recommendations – Henry Jeffrey, University of Edinburgh
